INTERNET SAFETY TALK
Internet Safety Talk will be given to children in school on Thursday next March 8th.  The presentation will be made by Jason O’Mahony of “Children of the Digital Age”.  There will be a talk for parents on Thursday night March 8th in the school at 7.30pm.  It is very important that all parents should attend as our children engage to such an extent online and parents should be aware of the dangers that this can cause our children. Thanks to our BOM and Parents committee who jointly sponsored this event.

PHOTOGRAPHER
We have to reschedule Donal O’Donovan, photographer again and he will visit our school on Wednesday , 21st Thursday 22nd March.  All children can have their photographs taken without any obligation to purchase photographs.  It would be nice if we had full attendance on those days so that class photos would be complete.

CHILD PROTECTION
Unfortunately because of the weather staff training for Child Protection had to be postponed and will now take place on Friday next 9th March.  Children will go home at 12.00 noon.  Please arrange to collect your child(ren) at this time.  The bus will run at this time.

LENTEN TALK
Fr. Pat has asked us to give a reminder on the Lenten Talk to be held in Teach Iosagain on this Wednesday March 7th at 8pm. It will be given by Gerry Hussey Performance Psychology Consultant & Motivational Speaker  and he will speak on  “Spirituality for today – looking after body, mind & soul”

ST. PATRICK’S DAY PARADE
Holy Family N.S. will be taking part in the Rathmore Parade on next Sunday 11th March at 2 p.m., assembling at the Credit Union at 1.30 p.m.  The theme for this year’s parade is ‘Mammy’.  This year, again, Paudie Cronin, on behalf of MC Group is providing us with an arctic trailer to accommodate the school band.  We would appreciate if parents could volunteer to help out our parents committee to decorate the float.  The arctic truck will be on the school grounds at 4.30pm. If you are free at this time please come along.  Children must be careful while on the trailer – absolutely no messing on the trailer. This week children are busy practicing their music for the parade.  Please encourage them to do their best so that they will know their tunes on the day. A number of children want to participate in the parade with other groups also on the day.  We have asked that the order of the parade will facilitate this and as soon as children reach O’Keeffe’s XL shop they will be free to leave our group and join whatever group they wish.  Please collect children as soon as possible after they finish.  The children will dress in their full uniform and it would be nice if they could wear green hat/ribbon to add to the occasion.
CREDIT UNION QUIZ
3 teams represented our school in the Rathmore Credit Union Quiz on Sunday 28th January in the Secondary School Gym. We had two U13 team and one U11 team. The U-11 team were Liam O’Keeffe, Ross Moriarty, Eoin Cashman and Grace Murphy.  The  U.13 team A were Jack Buckley, Fionn Murphy, Anna Cashman and Rachel Frampton. U13 Team B were Sean Finnegan, Aine Leader, Ciaran Collins and Darragh Nagle.   The U11 team and U.13 A team  won their categories and will go  forward on this Sunday March 11th to the Chapter 23 quiz in Tralee.  The U13 B team did us proud on the day but did not qualify for Sunday’s event.  We congratulate all involved and their teacher Anne Marie Murphy.  We wish the U11 team and U.13 A team the best of luck on Sunday next.

FIRST CONFESSION
First Confession takes place on Wed. 14th March at 8pm (after mass) in the church.

SEACHTAIN NA GAEILGE
As we celebrate Seachtain na Gaeilge (5th to 17th March) at Holy Family N.S. we would urge parents to encourage their children to use ‘cúpla focal’ at home. Ba chóir go mbeadh meas mór againn ar ár dteanga féin. Labhair í agus mairfidh sí.

ENROLMENT
Due to the snow last Friday we had to postpone the enrolment day.  Enrolment of new pupils will now take place on Friday March 16th at 1.00 p.m.

CHOIR
A big thank you to all the boys and girls in 4th and 5th classes who participated in the choir for the Confirmation on Tues.
