Holy Family National School

Introduction

Holy Family National School promotes participation in sport across all ages and ability levels, with enjoyment of sport the key. Sport ensures children are active and provides limitless opportunities for children to develop life skills such as teamwork, self-confidence and co-operation.

Facilities

We in Holy Family National School are fortunate to have a variety of play surfaces-a modern General Purposes room, four astro pitches, three tarmac yards as well as grass play areas.

Soccer Leagues

We organise a boys & girls soccer league within the school for middle and senior classes - a tradition first established in St.Joseph’s B.N.S. over forty years ago!

Sports for All Day

The whole school community looks forward to our ‘Sports for All Day’ each June.

Football & Hurling Coaching

At Holy Family National School we are fortunate to have strong sporting links with Rathmore GAA Club. On a practical level the club provides coaching for u8 footballers and hurling coaching for junior and middle classes. Kerry County Board Games Development Officer, Mr. Vince Cooper, East Kerry Games Development Administrator, provides football coaching for all classes on a rota basis. Mr. David O’Dea, South Kerry Hurling Development Officer provides hurling coaching and opportunities to play hurling.

Rugby Coaching

Munster Rugby Games Development Officer, Mr. Denis Corrigan, provides rugby coaching for senior classes.

Basketball

We participate in the Super Sevens Competitions in Killarney. Both the boys and girls from the seniors classes take part.
