Introduction
Holy Family
National School promotes participation in sport across all ages and ability
levels, with enjoyment of sport the key. Sport ensures children are active and
provides limitless opportunities for children to develop life skills such as
teamwork, self-confidence and co-operation.
Facilities
We in Holy
Family National School are fortunate to have a variety of play surfaces-a
modern General Purposes room, four astro pitches, three tarmac yards as well as
grass play areas.
Soccer Leagues
We organise
a boys & girls soccer league within the school for middle and senior
classes - a tradition first established in St.Joseph’s B.N.S. over forty years
ago!
Sports for All Day
The whole
school community looks forward to our ‘Sports for All Day’ each June.
Football &
Hurling Coaching
At Holy
Family National School we are fortunate to have strong sporting links with
Rathmore GAA Club. On a practical level the club provides coaching for u8
footballers and hurling coaching for junior and middle classes. Kerry County
Board Games Development Officer, Mr. Vince Cooper, East Kerry Games Development
Administrator, provides football coaching for all classes on a rota basis. Mr. David O’Dea, South Kerry Hurling Development Officer provides
hurling coaching and opportunities to play hurling.
Rugby Coaching
Munster
Rugby Games Development Officer, Mr. Denis Corrigan, provides rugby coaching
for senior classes.
Basketball
We participate in the Super Sevens Competitions in Killarney. Both the boys and girls from the seniors classes take part.
