Holy Family National School promotes participation in sport across all ages and ability levels, with enjoyment of sport the key. Sport ensures children are active and provides limitless opportunities for children to develop life skills such as teamwork, self-confidence and co-operation.
We in Holy Family National School are fortunate to have a variety of play surfaces-a modern General Purposes room, four astro pitches, three tarmac yards as well as grass play areas.
As part of the PE curriculum all children from 2nd to 6th classes undertake six weeks of swimming lessons, catering for all ability levels. Our school enters teams in a number of schools competitions; gaelic football (Senior Classes) Boys & Girls, hurling leagues (Middle Classes) and basketball leagues (Senior Classes) Boys & Girls. We also participate in boys & girls football skills competitions.
We organise a boys & girls soccer league within the school for middle and senior classes-a tradition first established in St.Joseph’s B.N.S. over forty years ago! The whole school community looks forward to our ‘Sports for All Day’ each June.
Since Holy Family National School opened in September 2007 our school has achieved some notable sporting achievements.
