Dates for Communion and Confirmation Ceremonies 2021

Message from Fr. Pat:

Dear Parents/ Guardians,

Though Government regulations allow for First Communion and Confirmation in July, many families have already planned to be away during that month.  Therefore, it is felt that the autumn option is the most suitable for all.

Please see below the proposed dates.

Please Note: Given that we don't know what guidelines will apply at that time, please work on the presumption that attendance will be confined to the Parents/ Guardians of the child and their siblings.

Sacrament of Confirmation:

Confirmation Practice 1:        Friday Sept 3rd     1p.m Rathmore Church

Confirmation Practice 2:        Friday Sept 10th    1p.m Rathmore Church

Celebration of the Sacrament of Confirmation:

Saturday    Sept 18th    11am          Confirmation 1st Session

Sept 18th    2pm            Confirmation 2nd Session

Only one ceremony at 11am if regulations at that time allow.

First Communion

Saturday    Sept 25th    11am Holy Family First Communion (Boys)

2p.m Holy Family First Communion (Girls)

Only one ceremony at 12 noon if regulations allow.

BOOKLISTS

Booklists will be finalised this week and given to the pupils.  We are asking for €35 per child for the coming year for Arts/Crafts and Photocopying. This may be paid in 2 instalments, one in September and one in January 2020, or you may prefer to pay in full in September.  There is a maximum charge of €60 per family.   The oldest member of each family should pay this to their class teacher. We also have the E-payments system up and running and will notify you by text before returning to school at the end of August.  In this way you can pay book rental and Arts/Crafts and Photocopying by visa/credit card.

BOOK RENTAL

Please ensure that your children return all books and other school property to their class teacher before Friday 25th June.

LEE STRAND

We have registered for homework diaries for all students from 2nd to 6th classes.  We will submit the tokens in August when we will collect the diaries from Lee Strand.   A big thank you to all the boys and girls who have been bringing in tokens from Lee Strand milk cartons over the year.  We are starting to collect tokens for next year’s journals.  And during the summer continue to collect Lee Strand tokens and you can bring them in September.

SIXTH CLASS GRADUATION

Weather permitting we intend to take our Sixth Class pupils on a Graduation Walk to Shrone Lake on Thurs. 24th June.  Fr. Pat will also join us for a Prayer Service.  We look forward to this special day out with the Sixth Class pupils.

OUTDOOR CLASSROOM AND SENSORY TRAIL

We are absolutely delighted to be able to make use of our outdoor classroom at last.  This beautiful addition to the school was made possible by the wonderful generosity of our main sponsor Reen’s Garage who donated €1000.  Rentokil Pest Control Ireland also donated €500.  We thank them sincerely.  We have added a variety of equipment constructed by Danny Kelleher and Don Casey.  Benny Moss and Denis Kelleher volunteered their time to help with assembling.  Many students have been busy weeding and painting to create this beautiful space.  See pictures on the blog.  Huge thanks to all and to the SET team and SNAs who researched, planned and co-ordinated the project to date.   We look forward to carrying out further developments over the summer that will ensure we can use this area all year round.

.

ROOF WORKS

We are really pleased to be nearing completion of the final phase of our school re-roofing.  I would like to thank Brian Fleming who completed Phase 1 and Tommie Finnegan for their work on this project.  We appreciate that they carried it out with minimum disruption to the pupils and staff.  July will see us commence the resurfacing of the playground at the rear of the school and commencement of our new additional classroom.

PARENTS COMMITTEE

We would like to thank our Parents’ Committee members for all of their hard work during the past school year.  All of the funds raised by the Parents Committee are spent for the benefit of children in our school.  We added sports equipment and will lay the new playground markings on the new courts over the summer.

SCHOOL UNIFORM

The whole school uniform, i.e. crested jumper, grey polo shirt, grey pants/skirt/pinafore, navy crested track suit bottom is available from Nora O’Connor “The Washbasket” Rathmore & O’Keeffe’s Drapery & Footwear, Ballydesmond. You may wish to purchase an additional generic navy top (unlabeled, round neck sweatshirts - available from numerous outlets in the area). These can be worn with the school crested tracksuit to allow for additional washing if you wish. Black shoes must be worn with uniform.  Runners to be worn for P.E.  White socks or grey tights to be worn by girls as part of their uniform.  Please ensure that jumpers, cardigans and jackets are marked with child’s name.

OLD SCHOOL UNIFORMS

If you have old school uniforms and they are in reasonable condition, we would be delighted if you could bring them to the school.
