Dear Parents

CHRISTMAS RAFFLE – PARENTS COMMITTEE

We will be raffling two Christmas hampers on behalf of the Parents Committee as a fundraiser.  Children may purchase tickets at €2 each or three for €5 each morning up to Friday 18th December 2020.  We would appreciate your support.  Thank you to McCarthy’s Londis for sponsoring the hampers.

CHRISTMAS PERFORMANCE FROM EACH CLASS

We planned to record a Christmas Performance from each class and the practice to date has been compliant with DES reopening of schools guidelines.  We have all enjoyed the preparation, however, we have now decided to perform each piece outdoors which unfortunately is not conducive to recording.  Each class will perform their piece for another class in the playground next week (weather permitting).

We will have a ‘Christmas Jumper’ day on tomorrow Friday, December 11th and our beneficiary will be Air Ambulance in Millstreet.  Children can bring €2 or any donation for this worthy cause.

ELF EXPRESS

On Thursday, 3rd December, Junior and Senior Infants classes received a visit from Elf Express.  Two elves visited the three classrooms and the children really enjoyed their performance. They were all delighted to find out that they were all on the ‘Good’ list and each received a certificate.  However the elves did say that as we were still a bit away from Christmas they would still need to be on their best behaviour. We have booked an online performance of ‘A Christmas Carol’ for Friday,18th December for the 1st-6th Class. We thank the Parents Committee for making these possible.

CREDIT UNION ART COMPETITION

Prizewinners for the Credit Union art competition were Marcelina Nowak (6th class) came 1st in her category and will go forward to the Chapter final of the competition.  Ryan Thompson (3rd class) came 3rd in his category.  Both Marcelina and Ryan received a trophy.  Class winners were Patrycja Duda, (Senior Infants), Robyn Daly (2nd Class) and Rachel McAuliffe (5th class).  The theme was “Imagine More”.   We congratulate all our winners and to everybody who took part.  Well done.

LOCAL ST. VINCENT dePAUL FOOD APPEAL

The local St. Vincent de Paul wish to acknowledge and express their sincere thanks to everyone who so generously donated food to their recent appeal.  All the food will be put into hampers and these will be given to needy families in our community over the Christmas period.  They also wish to remind you that they will be having a Drive – Thru Church Gate collection on next Sunday 13th December from 1.30pm to 2.30pm  at Rathmore, Shrone, Gneeveguilla and Knocknagree churches.

MISSIONARY MAGAZINES

Thank you to all the boys and girls who help to distribute and collect the subscription for the Far East and Messenger magazines during the year.  Orders are being renewed presently for Messenger (€24). The Far East envelopes to renew subscriptions have not been received yet but will be here before Christmas.   We are asking the boys and girls who distribute the magazines to bring back the renewal subscription envelopes as soon as possible. Thank you.

There was huge excitement when Elves came to visit the Junior & Senior Infant Classes. We were all delighted to hear that all the children are on Santa's good list.

Congratulations to every one who participated in the annual Credit Union Competition. Huge congratulations to our winners and best of luck in the next stage.
