Supported this year by the HSE and Accenture, this parental awareness campaign highlights the need to approach parenting children online in the same way we approach parenting them offline. Would you encourage them to talk to a stranger on the street? If the answer is “no”, then why let your child go online unsupervised?
Better Digital Parenting Event 2025
Our Better Digital Parenting webinar will take place on Wednesday, February 26th 2025.
Alex Cooney, CEO of CyberSafeKids, will join Dr. David Coleman, clinical psychologist, to discuss how parents can be more involved in their children's online lives and the challenges, opportunities and risks facing parenting in the digital age.

We were delighted to be able to host a Ficheall chess tournament in our school today.
Four schools visited us and 112 pupils played chess games.
We are very proud of how our own four teams played, well done to you all.
Safer Internet Day 2025 takes place Tuesday 11th February.
Pupils in our school are engaging in Safer Online activities via 'Webwise', an Irish Internet Safety Awareness Centre run by the Department of Education.
1st and 2nd class pupils will participate in an Internet Safety Colouring Competition and pupils from 3rd to 6th will design Online Safety Posters.

Agree to Agree Pilot Project
We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our pupils from 3rd to 6th class for engaging with the Agree to Agree Pilot programme. This programme aims to guide our school community through a collaborative process aimed at implementing positive change, fostering agreement and understanding among our stake holders in order to establish a new norm for children's use of internet enabled devices. Our pupils engaged honestly with this survey and approached the topics of conversation with immense maturity and we in HFNS couldn't be prouder. Well done to you all.
Thank you also to the parents of our wonderful students who took the time to engage with our questionnaire.
It's wonderful to see that we all want a safe online environment for our students and with a collaborative approach we can achieve this.

Huge congratulations to our two quiz teams and their coach Ms. Anne Marie Murphy. All in HFNS are very proud of our U11 team of Éabha, Diarmuid, Conor and Kayleigh who came first and will progress to the next round and also of our U13 team of Cian, David, Evan and Kayden who came second. A great return out of 28 teams! We have a long and proud tradition of quiz successes in HFNS. Well done to all.
